Meet our Team

Adam Martinez

Adam Martinez - Winemaker

“I grew up a gypsy wandering the western U.S. I started college as a would-be lawyer, ended up almost a chemist and now, I make the wine. I started with Firehouse Wine Cellars running the lab for all the wine tests. After working in the lab and cellar for three years under Rich Tanguay, our off-site consulting winemaker and the then-head winemaker at Heller Estate, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I knew I wanted to make wine! I consulted with him, and he concurred that I was ready to take over all on-site activities in 2016. Thanks to Rich, some friends, and a wonderful program at Washington State University I became head winemaker in 2018.”

Michelle Pawelski - Winery General Manager

Michelle has been with the Firehouse family for 17 years, holding many positions throughout the company; however, her favorite is her current role as winery general manager where she combines her love of people and drinking wine. She is responsible for managing the business side of the winery, including sales, marketing, administration, and guest service. Born and raised in the beautiful Black Hills, Michelle spent several years in Boston developing a passion for seafood, the Red Sox, and running through “pahks.” Prior to her employment with the Firehouse, she worked for many years as a newspaper reporter. When she isn’t running around the tasting rooms, she is running around the Black Hills with her husband, three children, and three dogs.

Nicole Weimer - Wine Club Manager

Nicole Weimer is a Rapid City native who loves living in the beautiful Black Hills. Her degree in communication arts from Black Hills State University in Spearfish kept her in the area. Nicole’s wine journey began with attending events at a local winery. A girls’ trip to northern California’s wine country solidified her love for wine and the camaraderie that comes with it.

“I’m excited for this new adventure and to create memorable moments for all of you.”
