Many birds are a detriment to vineyards, but the Nighthawk coexists peacefully with the grapes in the vineyard. These feathered friends do not build nest. Instead, they lay their highly-camouflaged eggs directly on the ground between rows of our grape vines. The mother birds spend their days protecting these eggs from those working in the vineyards. At dusk and dawn, Nighthawks hunt for invasive insects that harm the vines. As the birds fly through the skies that overlook our grapes, they guard what will become Firehouse Wine Cellars' wines.
