Known for its wide-open spaces under clear, dark skies, the Black Hills is a stargazer’s dream. Whether from a picturesque mountain top or an isolated field, moving away from the light pollution of the cities and camping under the stars are perfect ways to experience the glory of the night sky.
Stargazer is a modern take on the traditional wine making technique of the field blend. Historically, a field blend would have been a mix of grapes growing side-by-side in the vineyard and then harvested and fermented together, even though they could be red and white grapes. Winemaker Adam Martinez modernized the practice by fermenting the red syrah grape in the same tank as the white rousanne grape. The purpose was to increase color, body, and aromatics of the end product.
